 Benetúser has several municipal public cultural facilities, among which are the municipal public library, the Cultural Center "El Molí", the archaeological museum  and the multipurpose room of the chalet de la Chapa. In Benetúser, as in the rest of the Valencian Community there are two official languages, Valencian and Spanish. Both have a broad literary and cultural tradition. In the case of the Valencian spoken in Benetúser it should be noted that it is the dialect of Valencian , while the Spanish spoken in the municipality is Castilian.

Nuestra Señora del Socorro

Thus the figure of the patron saint of the municipality is fundamentally focused on the protection of Mary over a child who escapes the power of the devil. It is a derivation of the Virgin of Mercy, who raises her scepter as a weapon. Its origin derives from the mystical literature of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, which fostered trust in the intercession of Mary and above all in popular legends and miracles. Festival on September 23, although the municipality carries out its procession on the fourth Sunday of the month.

In September is celebrated the week dedicated to the patron saint, Our Lady of Help, with the novena, masses, daily transfers of the image of the patron saint and the procession in her honor. While the 9th of October is celebrated the day of the Valencian Community and the day of San Dionisio, patron saint of the Valencian lovers. In the municipality on the night of 8 to 9 a dinner is held where the associations of the municipality cook paellas for their members.While on the 9th is celebrated the tradition that says that men should give women "the mocadorà", that is, a handkerchief that keeps garden products made with marzipan, as well as the "lollipop" and the "tronaor", which recall two types of rockets that were fired commemorating the day of the Conquest. Along with all these festivities, in the Centro Cultural del Molí, the Music Union of Benetúser, performs every year a concert on this date to celebrate the festival, while the municipal decorations are given to residents, businesses and associations of the town.




San Sebastián

Saint Sebastian is a Christian martyr. He was born in Narbonne (France) in 256. He was a soldier in the Roman army and the emperor Diocletian appointed him head of the first cohort of the Imperial Praetorian Guard. When his creed, which was Christian, was known, he was condemned to be massacred. He did not die in execution, so he was again condemned and beaten to death in 288. The Christians who saw him die took his body and buried him in the Via Apia, in a catacomb that carries the name of Saint Sebastian.

He was invoked against the plague. Festival on January 20, although the municipality celebrates the main festivities in its honor the last week of June, performing the procession of the patron saint on the last Sunday of the festivities.
The Festivities in honor of the patron saint of the town, San Sebastian, are celebrated from the weekend of the penultimate week of June, until the following weekend. In the Fiestas Mayores the associations of the municipality have a festival, among which the Festera Mayor is chosen. In addition to this, the traditional procession of Corpus Christi, as well as the Moors and Christians, is also celebrated throughout the week of festivities.




Fallas in benetusser:

Throughout the province of Valencia, as well as in Benetúser, the fallas are celebrated from 15 to 19 March. In Benetúser there are six failed commissions: the Joventut Fault, the Lepanto Fault, the Literato Azorín Fault - Master Rosario Iroil, the Rajolar Fault, the Doctor Vicente Navarro Soler Fault and the Barrio de la Estación Fault, which perform several acts during the week fallera:

On the 15th the Plantà, act of erecting the monuments falleros.

On the 16th, the awards ceremony is held in the Town Hall square, where all the failed commissions await the verdict of the jury.

On the 18th the floral offering is made to the Virgin of the Forsaken, patron of the Valencian Community and the Fallera fiestas.

Day 19 is the Cremà, closing act of the festivities. It consists of the burning of the fallero monuments planted in the streets of the municipality on March 15. The act is preceded by a fireworks display, lit by the commission’s major fallera.

The whole week fails between 8 and 9 in the morning wakes up, where the failed commissions wake up the neighbors with firecrackers. And from 14:00 a mascletà is fired.

Procesión de Ramos.

The Semana Santa of Benetúser began in 1949 as an extension of religious events, following the Valencian tradition of the living processional representations of Semana Santa and Corpus. Currently there are 7 brotherhoods-confraternities, that of the el Santo Sepulcro,el Santo Descendimiento and Cristo resucitado, Dolorosa, el Cristo Nazareno, el Santísimo Cristo de la Misericordia, los Granaderos de la Virgen and el Santo Cáliz. . In addition to the brotherhoods-brotherhoods there is the Cultural Association La Pasión, which is in charge of staging throughout the week.

The events that take place during 
 Semana Santa in Benetúser are:

on Palm Sunday celebrates the procession of palms, with the representations of the "donkey", the arrival of Jesus to Jerusalem and the expulsion of the merchants from the temple.
On Holy Tuesday the procession of the Dolorosa takes place.

On Holy Wednesday, the Way of the Cross runs through the streets of the town.
Holy Thursday depicts the Last Supper, the imprisonment of Jesus and the judgment of the Sanhedrin, as well as the repentance and death of Judas, finally followed by the procession of silence.

Good Friday is the big holiday. In the morning there is a representation of the trial before Pontius Pilate, the street procession of bitterness and the representation of the crucifixion of Christ. In the evening the association "The Passion" represents the descent, and then the general procession begins.

On Holy Saturday, since 2015 the scenes of the resurrection of Jesus are depicted, and then the confraternities carry in procession the risen Christ, where the confreres do not wear neither cloak nor hood.

On Easter Sunday the procession of the meeting takes place, followed by a parade in which the confreres distribute sweets to neighbors and visitors.

In Benetússer, within the Catholic tradition, the 1st of November is celebrated the day of All Saints, whose feast consists of people visiting loved ones already deceased in the cemetery, where they leave flowers and pray for them.


Gastronomy:

Valencian paella.

The cuisine of Benetúser is framed within the typical Mediterranean and Valencian cuisine, with a high consumption of vegetable products (fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts), bread and other cereals (rice being the main)olive oil as the main fat and the regular consumption of fish and poultry.

The traditional dishes of the town are mainly rice dishes, due to its proximity to La Albufera, such as Valencian paella, rice with beans and turnips, baked rice and rice a banda, although also highlights the traditional "all i pebre" and stew.

The traditional drink of the area is the Valencian horchata made from chufa, which is usually taken combined with the fartones.

Among the sweets was the manufacture of typical Christmas nougats, as well as chocolate nougat with almonds or hazelnuts, although the main product that was manufactured in Benetússer was the "Nougat Vienna"'which consists of a wafer biscuit stuffed with nougat praline and dipped in milk-free chocolate.

In 2012, 67,2 % of the workforce in the municipality of Benetúser was employed in the service sector, because one of the main activities of the municipality and neighbouring villages is based on shops, in many cases furniture, although small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) predominate, while 16.3% were engaged in construction, 13.1% in industry and the remaining 3.5% in agriculture. This means that the economic structure of Benetúser has changed in the last decades, going from being an industrial town to being a town that lives mainly in the service sector.

The Archaeological Museum of Benetússer is a municipal institution installed in an old rice mill, the "Molí de Favara", which houses, in its permanent exhibition called "Arrels de Fang", a selection of the materials found in archaeological interventions carried out in the municipality. You can visit every Saturday of the year in the morning from 10 am to 1 pm.
